Day Four Goodness

Day5-53Today began with a panicked scramble to make it the bus in time for those of us in our room who chose not to set an alarm. We scarfed down some Costa Rican pancakes and a a cup of coffee, or two, as we prepared to tackle the day. Once again we split up into several work groups. Those at Finca San Jaun spent the day sanding and painting the large mural, and preparing for the festival being held tomorrow at the school to celebrate a national holiday here in Costa Rica. The hope center group continued their service with the kids, and the Quince de Septiembre crew continued their Goliath sized project of chipping, sanding, and laying a new layer of concrete over the mammoth wall that surrounds the center. And last, but certainly not least, the crew at El Mantiel continued their service with the little kids, and neared completion of the classroom we have been painting this week. After a short pit stop at the local McDonalds to grab a “Super Mac”, we reconvened at the center and held our large group and one on ones. The fact that God is present with us down here in Costa Rica is undeniable, and we are so excited to see what else he has in store for our team.

Would it be completely inappropriate for me to request that Shep bring home one or two of those adorable kids in his backpack? We promise to snuggle him/her for years and return to Costa Rica upon onset of puberty! So adorable! Hope everyone is having a wonderful time and getting a ton of stuff accomplished.
