I cannot believe the day has finally arrived! It seems like just yesterday we were vigorously refreshing our emails to see if we’d been accepted onto the trip. Despite the extreme lack of sleep for each team member, we all arrived promptly at the airport for the highly anticipated “send off.” After checking our bags and getting through security without any issues, we made an executive decision and headed over to Terminal C for some Chick-fil-a! After that we went straight to gate E to prepare to board the plane! After a couple of team pictures, we excitedly handed over our tickets and started boarding. Once the plane took off and all of our hands were raised high in the air, the moment felt more real than it ever had before. WE WERE COSTA RICA BOUND! Fast forward through the smooth 3 1/2 hour plane ride, with a slightly bumpy landing, we had finally arrived! After we got off, we grabbed our bags, weaved in and out through the long customs line, and got our passports stamped, we boarded the busses and headed straight to our hotel. We had an amazing lunch and an awesome orientation from the Openhouse church leaders. After that we had some free time on our hands. Between exploring the hotel, unpacking our bags, and playing soccer on the rooftop, it was a very eventful evening. We are extremely excited to all have our first large group, small groups, and one-on-ones after dinner tonight. On behalf of the team, I’d like to thank every single person who made this trip possible. Thank you to everyone who generously donated to students and leaders on the trip, prayed intently for our team, and also to all the parents for driving us the the airport this morning. We’re so excited for our first full day in Costa Rica tomorrow! We will be posting more photos tomorrow, too!
